Course Description & Objectives:
Digital and Interactive Media is a course designed to provide students with opportunities to develop skills to meet the changing needs of business in the areas related to digital graphics and multimedia.
Interactive Media applications are those computer applications that create electronic communication appealing to a variety of senses by merging sound, pictures, graphics, video, and text.
Students in this course will use different types of software to develop multimedia projects that require extensive research, use of technology, and application of critical thinking. Students will use up-to-date, industry level software applications to develop proficiencies in designing, graphics manipulations, text effects, audio, video, presentation skills, multimedia productions, and desktop publishing.
Format and Procedures:
DIM is implemented in several formats –online work, lecture, individual as well as group projects and presentations. Each student is expected to follow Acceptable Use Policies set forth by PISD with respect to computer use. Each student is expected to be focused and engaged in the task at hand while in the classroom. All students are expected to participate fully in discussions, feedback, projects, individual and group work as the teacher directs.
Required Materials:
You will need a 1 1/2” binder, a flash drive, and a packet of notebook paper (for note taking) by the 2nd week of school. The supplies will remain in the classroom so there will be no excuses that you do not have materials for class work.
In addition, black and / or blue pens are welcomed…if forgotten those will also be made available to you.

BE PROMPT – come to class on time and ready to work. BE PREPARED – have your materials in class everyday (see below). BE POLITE – show respect to other students and the teacher at all times. BE POSITIVE – have a willingness to learn and a good attitude.
Grading: Minor Grades (Daily Work/Quizzes) 30% Major Grades (Tests/Projects/Presentations) 70% No one grade will count more than 20% of the total grade for the 9 weeks grading period. Sufficient time is given in class to complete your assignments so late work will be accepted with a late penalty assessed (maximum grade of 70). Makeup Work and Retests will be according to district policy.
Students will be required to turn in both work on-line and by hand. ALL work will be saved using the assigned folders/file names. Late work will have a 10 point penalty after one day and will not be accepted after 5 days. You are given sufficient amounts of time for each and every assignment to be completed so this should NOT be a problem.
Absences:
When you are absent for any reason (sick, athletics, band, etc.) it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to get what you missed and make up your work. Each day of class will build on the previous class day so attendance is critical for your success.
Academic Integrity:
Each student in this course is expected to abide by the Pflugerville ISD Code of Conduct and Student Handbook with regard to Academic Integrity. Any work submitted by a student in this course for academic credit will be the student's own work unless otherwise specifically directed by the teacher. Academic dishonesty, presenting anyone else’s work as your own, in any form will result in a grade of “F” for the assignment or exam in which it was demonstrated for all involved students.
